Athalie Williams is a global C-suite executive who has led substantive change at the highest levels of ASX50 and FTSE organisations across telecommunications, resources and financial services. Her portfolio career spans non-executive roles, CEO and board advisory, and executive mentoring and coaching.

Her leadership experience includes serving as Chief HR Officer of BT Group and Chief People Officer of BHP, where she guided organisations of significant scale through transformation, digital adoption, workforce change and periods of operational and reputational complexity. She brings a people-strategy-as-business-strategy lens to all her work, grounded in curiosity, commercial clarity and sound judgement.

Athalie’s career spans more than thirty years in large, technical and highly regulated organisations. She has led global workforces of more than 100,000 through cycles of growth, divestment, digital reinvention and crisis, including substantive productivity and performance initiatives at BT Group and BHP. Her experience includes enterprise-wide digital and operating model change across 180 countries, organisational redesign and the strategic conditions required to execute complex, capital-intensive transformation.

She is recognised as a forensic, data-driven leader with deep capability in strategy, operations and risk management. Her analytical approach was shaped early in her career through management consulting and strengthened through rigorous commercial training. This expertise has been honed across billion-dollar enterprises operating in multi-jurisdictional, highly regulated environments with complex stakeholder landscapes.

Athalie brings a strong commercial perspective to complex decision-making and is known for thoughtful counsel across strategy, operations and governance. Her approach is anchored in curiosity and sound judgement, helping organisations surface the issues that matter most and make decisions with confidence.

Her governance experience spans CEO succession, capital allocation, executive remuneration, corporate strategy, crisis management and digital and AI oversight. It also includes serving as a Director of the BHP Foundation and holding advisory roles with government, academic and corporate institutions.
